Solar Deck Lights Afforable Outdoor Lighting

Solar deck lights can be used in a variety of outdoor situations. They require no wiring or power connection, and operate on miniature solar panel that charges a small battery. Solar deck lights are an easy way to add landscape lighting, or to light a deck, patio, or pool area. Solar deck lights can work virtually anywhere that they receive direct sunlight, because they are battery operated, and don’t add to your electrical expenses. They’re safe in poolside areas, along walkways, path, driveways and with kids and pets. With other outdoor lighting solutions wiring can be damaged and need replacement. Creating additional expenses not to mention you wouldn’t want tangling wires that make installation and use of other lighting solutions dangerous to your kids and pets.

What do Solar Deck Lights Need to Light Up

I have gotten a lot of questions about how to charge Solar Deck lights? What do Outdoor Solar lights need to light up? And what kind of light does a solar cell need? To mention a few of the questions asked.

The answer is “sunlight” just plain old light from the sun, Duh! at least that’s what I thought to myself. But then I began to think what is the real question, and was I really answering that question? Outdoor Solar lights are actually powered by light energy from the sun in fact all solar lights are powered by light energy from the sun. How is this done? My 5 year old daughter thinks Solar Yard lights “stores light from the sun in the day time until night when it shines it” and in a way she is right.

Is 2010 Outdoor Solar Lights Break Through year?

The cost of solar modules production has fallen substantially over the past six months and is expected to fall even further. Photovoltaic solar energy is nearing its breakthrough point with solar module prices of $1 per Watt no longer a theory.  Vice President of Chinese manufacturer QS Solar quotes in solarplaza.com “In 2010, our objective is to reach a selling price for solar modules of $1 per Watt,”. In other words, it will be possible in 2010 to produce solar energy cheaper than the cost of electricity from the grid (“grid parity”), and this is without subsidies. This revolutionary price level could be sufficient to create sustainable growth in the solar energy market even without the availability of any government incentives. It is the start of the solar future. QS Solar started production of its amorphous silicon thin-film modules last year. “We will bring down the sales price to our goal of $0.75/Wp through the continuous expansion of our production capacity and process optimization.” The company currently has 3 production lines with an installed capacity of 95 Megawatts, and it plans to increase another 4 lines by 2009, which will lead to a total capacity of 235 MW by next year. The $1 per Watt level is already sufficient to achieve grid parity in many markets. A lower level might not even be needed to serve an infinite global market potential for photovoltaic solar energy
